銀座駅

Ginza Station opened in 1934 on the line that now bears the district's name. It later became a major interchange with the arrival of the Marunouchi line in 1957 and the Hibiya line in 1964. Its corridors follow the underground of a shopping district whose grand avenues, department stores, and arcades shaped the modern image of Tokyo. A renovation completed around 2020 clarified the transfers and introduced an architectural language inspired by the light and refinement of Ginza. Through the urban passageways, the station also connects to several neighboring hubs such as Yurakucho and Higashi-ginza, at the heart of an especially dense pedestrian network.

The station holds three families of platforms built in different eras. Their gradual union tells nearly the whole history of the Tokyo subway, from the first historic line to the major works preceding the 1964 Games.
