大手町駅について
Otemachi is the largest exclusively underground interchange in Tokyo. The Marunouchi line arrived here in 1956, and the Tozai, Chiyoda, Hanzomon, and Mita lines gradually completed an ensemble operated by Tokyo Metro and Toei. The station extends beneath the country's main business district, in the immediate vicinity of the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station. Its many accesses open directly into office towers, bank headquarters, and underground arcades. More than a mere interchange, Otemachi is infrastructure woven into the daily functioning of the district: it distributes the flows among five lines and allows travelers to reach Tokyo Station on foot without returning to the surface.
With five subway lines, Otemachi holds the record for the greatest number of lines serving a single underground station in Tokyo. Its corridors also allow a fully covered walk all the way to Tokyo Station.
