日本橋駅

Nihombashi Station serves a district that was the commercial center of Edo and remains one of Tokyo's historic landmarks. The Ginza line station opened in 1932, before being complemented by the Tozai line in 1967. The Toei Asakusa line has its own history: opened under the name Edobashi, it adopted the name Nihombashi in 1989 in order to unify the interchange. The concourses provide access to the department stores, the old trading houses, and the Nihonbashi bridge. This proximity directly links modern infrastructure to a site from which roads and distances have been measured in Japan since the Edo period.

The neighboring Nihonbashi bridge carries the zero milestone of Japan's roads. This national reference point sits just a few minutes from the platforms, a reminder that the district was already a hub of circulation long before the subway.
